MIVFD Requirements
- Be a High School graduate or equivalent
- Pass a background Check
- Have a Good Moral Character
- Be in good physical condition
- Reside in the service area. **(exceptions to be made based on certifications/abilities)
Application Process
- To receive a Merritt Island department application, recruits must attend at least three trainings/meetings in a row.
- Completed MIVFD applications will be read and approved by the membership at a monthly business Meeting
- Recruit to submit DMV license along with Brevard County Fire Rescue application, including all requirements
- After approval, applicants will receive an application to be submitted to BCFR that includes:
-Personal information
-Copy of driver's license
-A 10-year DMV record
-Reference letters x3
-Background check
-Medical screening
-Drug test
-Fingerprints
- During that time, an Interview to be set up with the applicant and the Officers of the Department.
- After all is complete, the application will be sent to BCFR for approval
- Once approved, the applicant will then be able to start attending classes and working on Certifications!
After that, You are on your Way to becoming a Merritt Island Active Member
